Earth Day poster, 2004. Oils, 22” x 30”.

Earth Day Poster

May 1, 2024

Every year on Earth Day— April 22nd— I think of this piece and how much I enjoyed making it and I wonder who and where it’s affecting the world right now.

In 2004, I was commissioned to create the Earth Day poster for the US Department of State. The art director envisioned a rainforest scene from the top of the tree canopy with animals, etc. The guenon and the butterflies were my idea, so after a quick sketch, this was created. Later, the painting was sold/ auctioned to benefit the LGBTQ+ organization, Live Out Loud.
