Purchasing a work of art is an investment. Chosen carefully. After all, it’s something that will be displayed in your home for some length of time, passed down to your family for generations. You’ll want to buy work that is archival, with the methods and the surfaces carefully considered for longevity. You’ll want a piece that will enchant you, and every time you look at it you discover something you didn’t see before.
The world is full of a wide variety of exquisitely beautiful living things but I tend to be slightly more obsessed by the smaller creatures that live on the level of the mosses and fungi. These subtle, overlooked beasties enchant and delight me. It’s the secretive ones that make me feel as if the world is vibrating beneath the layers of leaves. In their mundaneness, they shimmer.
Graphite drawings are a very accessible kind of artwork. Their silvery, neutral tones match the decor of any room and they’re less expensive to own. A careful and detailed drawing can be a thoughtful gift for any special occasion like a wedding or anniversary.
