How We All Go
How We All Go
Poison Ivy is a beautiful plant if you’re not getting too close to it. Many years ago, this artist didn’t know what she was tangling with and got a very bad rash that lasted two months. (I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.) Perhaps the skull is an indication that the animal who feasted on the berries also didn’t know what it was getting into. How we all eventually go, depends on fate.
This painting is fairly representative of most of my botanical work which includes elements of the Pennsylvania woods in which I live. There are leaves, rocks, roots, insects, and fragments of all kinds of living debris and matter in my paintings. It’s a little bit of a scavenger hunt to see what I’ve hidden in my work.
Done in 2022. Framed in a German silver metal frame, 19 3/4” x 23 1/2”. Oil paint on alkyd treated museum board. No glass or mat.
