Marine Biology
A still life of some of my favorite seashells and gifts from the sea. This work was made two years after my other painting, “Natural History” and is meant to have a similar theme which is that of a naturalist’s workspace, accumulating all of the wonders of the scientist’s field of study.
My seashell collection isn’t a vast trove and it isn’t catalogued with proper nomenclature. Rather, they reside in various boxes and jars in my cabinets and occasionally surface when I need to look at them for a project— or just to marvel at their exquisite beauty.
The glass-framed painting is approximately 12.5” x 16.5” and is painted in oil paint on gessoed archival paper. The antique silvered wood frame measures 21.5” x 26”. Art was completed in 2001.
Art will be shipped inside 2 rigid foam covers inside of a cardboard container, then packed again in an outer shipping container. Double-boxing always is best for safety. USPS 2-Day insured Priority mail.
