The Outing
The Outing
A woodland Faun and his long-eared fellows take a leisurely— perhaps noisy— stroll through the undergrowth of the forest, among the aconite and jack-in-the-pulpit, ferns, mushrooms, acorns and leaves. A startled stag beetle flies off in search of some peace and quiet.
Like its sibling piece, “Ephemerata”, “The Outing” is a paean to budding adulthood, and celebrates the simple adolescent joy and discovery of growing up.
You can see some of the changes I made to the design after I started the painting by comparing it to the drawing.
Oil paint on canvas, 18” x 24”, 2019.
The painting is framed in a simple and elegant Nielsen metal frame in German Silver and is ready to hang.
