Explore original full color illustrations from a book all about bats. Finished in 1996 for the Golden Junior Guides series, this book of Bat paintings was never published. The great and hallowed Western Publishing Co. was gutted and bought out by Macmillan. Fortunately for me, the art director returned my art before it could be lost.
Paintings are finished in oil paint on heavy Arches paper. Working on paper meant it could be scanned on a rotating drum (the old ways) and the smooth surface ensured that the there wouldn’t be any specular highlights when scanning. Plus, it gave me the ability to get amazing details in the fur and facial structures.
All are 15” h x 20” w, with the exception of two of the paintings which are 9 x 8. These were originally one connected spread but it was cut in half.
Paintings will be shipped flat, sandwiched between layers of fome core and sturdy cardboard.
