This collection of illustrations is from the children’s science book, “I Can Read About Insects” by author, Deborah Merrians and published by Troll Communications. L.L.C. in 1999. I used alkyd and oil paints on heavy weight paper, to achieve a smooth texture and meticulous detail. The book’s spreads measure 18” x 8”. (The last image is a half-page.)
A few years before this book, I bought a stereo-microscope to study insects for other projects. I was glad to use it again here to observe the delicate features of the subjects here.
Original art will be enveloped in an archival sleeve and shipped sandwiched between several layers of fome core and corrugated cardboard.
