Fall Bounty, a work that sold during the From The Forest” show.

"From The Forest" Show

September 29, 2025

For an artist, a group show is often far less intimidating than a solo exhibition—you’re not responsible for filling an entire gallery with your own work. Still, I believe it’s important to offer the curator as many pieces as possible, so the space can be filled thoughtfully.

The Manor Mill Gallery in Monkton, MD (say that fast three times!) was the perfect venue for From the Forest (23 August—5 October 2025). Nestled in Maryland’s rolling hills, the Mill is surrounded by woodland and hiking trails—an ideal setting for a forest-themed show. Naturally, I had many works ready that spoke to the theme, but I also created several new ceramic pieces especially for the exhibition, leaning into the mythological subjects of the forest that I love so dearly.

Here are a few of the works that found new homes. I’m grateful to share my art with those who value its reminder that forests are sacred spaces. Our long history of living among trees has shaped both our bodies and our psyches.

Many thanks to curator Brad Blair for his enthusiastic welcome and for sharing his own exuberant pottery with the show. His energy and vision made From the Forest a joy to be part of, and I’m so grateful to have had my work included in such a thoughtful exhibition.

A Bearded Greenman, a much-loved forest denizen.

Mycelium Maven, the heart of the forest floor.

Baba Yaga, one of my oldest and favorite guardians.

The Horned Forest God presides within the canopied spaces.
