A Ceremonial Moonpot

A vessel for the in-between hours. Hand-built from elegant brown stoneware with white stoneware accents, this moonpot rises on three short feet, lifting its clean silhouette just above the tabletop — as if it's not quite ready to commit to gravity.

Nascent orbs ring the naked stoneware — pale barnacles clinging where the dark shore gives way to the sea — watching from the waterline of a floating moonlight-blue glaze, the full moon caught and rippling in its depths. The seated lid is crowned with a stalked single eye as its finial, a small sentinel keeping watch over whatever you choose to keep within its deep blue interior.

Use it to hold intentions, salt, or sugar on your table — sacred and domestic in the same breath.

Constructed using the traditional Yixing method — paddle and pottery compass rather than wheel — this piece lives at the intersection of Chinese slab-building tradition and an Arts & Crafts sensibility. All glazes are my own studio recipes, mixed from raw dry materials and tested by hand to marry properly with this stoneware body.
