A Ceremonial Moonpot

A vessel for the in-between hours. Hand-built from chartreuse-speckled stoneware, this moonpot rises on three short feet, lifting its clean silhouette just above the tabletop.

Nascent orbs ring the stoneware, pushing outward rather than sinking in — small buds caught in the act of emerging where the chartreuse clay rises above swirling layers of green glaze, like the sun breaking through the leaves to illuminate the moss or lichen. Lift the seated lid and the vessel keeps its quietest secret for last: an interior glazed in a clear, translucent pale — nothing hidden in shadow here, just light itself, kept.

Use it to hold intentions, salt, or sugar on your table — sacred and domestic in the same breath.

Constructed using the traditional Yixing method — paddle and pottery compass rather than wheel — this piece lives at the intersection of Chinese slab-building tradition and an Arts & Crafts sensibility. All glazes are my own studio recipes, mixed from raw dry materials and tested by hand to marry properly with this stoneware body.
