Resilience— Ceremonial Altar Frame with Kintsugi Repair
Ceramic altar frame with kintsugi repair | Approx. 11.75” h x 8.2” w x 1.25” d
This piece was cracked during its creation—but rather than cast it aside, I chose to mend it using a kintsugi-inspired process, infilling the fracture with gold to transform its imperfection into meaning. Now whole again, it serves as a quiet and powerful reminder: healing is part of the journey.
At the crown of the frame, an all-seeing eye rests in a lotus-like 6-petaled circle, symbolizing awareness, clarity, and protection. Alien-like “star map” motifs—both incised and raised—travel the surface like celestial etchings, accented with subtle red engobe that glows softly against the dark stoneware.
This open altar invites your personal ritual: place a photo, talisman, crystal, or intention at its center. Let it serve as a vessel for your transformation, your memory, your devotion.
