The Trickster

$325.00

Inspired by a classical art aesthetic which combines realism with stylistic elements, this wall sculpture was modeled in terra cotta clay and washed with copper oxide for a touch of darker contrasts in the textures.

The rabbit trickster archetype is a prominent figure across various world mythologies and folktales, known for using its wit and cunning to overcome larger, stronger adversaries. This character challenges authority, bends social norms, and often serves as a symbol of the underdog who triumphs through intelligence rather than brute force.

Examples are Mishaabooz from Native American mythology, The Hare from East Indian mythology, Br’er Rabbit from African American folklore, and of course, Bugs Bunny in the West. These stories of The Trickster are about shapeshifters, symbols of resistance against oppression using clever tactics to outwit larger opponents. The Trickster is a dealer in karmic justice.
