Once a year, my agent would place an advertisement for the whole group of artists into big print directories like PictureBook, The Workbook, or the Directory of Illustration. To get the latest style and imagery from each artist, we would be asked to create a new image just for this publication. At the time, I was doing a lot of children’s science illustration but working to segue a bit more into storytelling. This image came out of that time frame— 2003 or thereabouts.

Art will be shipped flat between layers of fome core and corrugated cardboard.
